Full Moon Facts

The full moon occurs every 29.5 days.
There is increased chance for rain and storms following the full moon.
More babies are born on the full moon.
The word “lunatic” and the idea of “lunacy” originated in the 15th century from the Latin word lunaticus meaning “of the moon” or “moonstruck”. It came from the belief that people became more or less aggressive depending on the cycles of the moon.
A study in 2018 determined that in people with bipolar disorder, rapid cycling between depression and mania would occur in sync with the lunar cycle. A separate case study in 2019 supports this data.
A 2013 study showed a drop in blood pressure and heart rate in males during the full moon.
According to one study, an incredible 81% of mental health professionals believe that the full moon makes people ill despite little conclusive evidence to support this theory.
