LISTENER STORY ALERT!!

Please welcome Stephanie back to the podcast. You may recall her write-in in an early episode about a restroom at her workplace. It featured a particularly spooky roll of toiler paper that tipped her off to a ghost with, shall we say, boundary issues. This week, she joined us live and talked with Peter about dreams featuring a very special person.

It’s THIS guy!

The Fresno Nightcrawler aka Fresno Alien aka Fresno Pants. What can we say? He’s a star. He’s the bees knees. He’s who everyone wants to be. And rightfully so. Look at him. Aww. Lil guy.

So some background on this fella in case you don’t know…

He’s a very recent addition to the cryptid family, first sighted in the 1990s. A man in Fresno showed up at a police station with this CCTV from home showing an unknown creature just cruising through his yard…

Since then, there have been more sightings and more footage.

This is footage from Yosemite National Park…

And people really seem to love The Fresno Nightcrawler. He has merch, man: plushies, tee-shirts, mugs…even blankets!

He’s just this cool little pair of pants taking a walk. Or is he?

What is he? We have several theories to explore.

Could the Nightcrawler be a fungal life form?

Ghost?

An alien perhaps?

Or haunted laundry???

The Nightcrawlers have captured the imagination of the art community as well. We mentioned Eduardo Valdez-Hevia, whose work is pictured below, during the episode. He along with many other artists have created some really cool pieces inspired by this awesome cryptid.

This creature has also been the subject of multiple attempts at hoaxes. Captain Disillusion of YouTube has an interesting and entertaining video in which he recreates the movements and look of the Nightcrawler using some cool effects.

We here at The Strange Woods Podcast are not sure what we think about the Fresno Nightcrawler’s origins or explanation…but we can agree that he seems like a cool guy and we’d totally hang out with him. He seems super chill. Like Jonathan said, he just seems like he’s bopping on through with a song in his heart…this song specifically.
